I think Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops have ruined the rod and tackle industry...yes their stores are fancy, and its nice to be able to go buy everything imaginable for fishing, including a boat...but the major problem with these stores are, they are not your local neighborhood tackle shop..where you can actually find correct information about where you want to go fishing...Cabelas and Bass Pro shop hire just anybody who is looking for a job...they dont have very much knowledge or experience with the products they are selling...at your local tackle shop you have employees that fish the local waters and can actually give you information that is useful....Then there's price...Cabellas and Bass Pro is really expensive...Because of these stores high prices and pretty features they attract more yuppies who have no clue and it has driven most Local Tackle Shops out of business...which intern now the local tackle shops raise their prices to stay open...So i boycott these corporate businesses...because the corporate world doesn't belong in the outdoor world!!!

...!!SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TACKLE SHOP!!...

It's all about Bass Pro. Their website is easier to manage, and the stores are much more fun to go to and I love how everything has it's own area. I could spend hours int he freshwater fishing section at any Bass Pro.

I'm with Fisherbabe on the Springfield, MO Bass Pro. I was down there last summer and it was insane. It was huge and they were expanding the corporate HQ. I wish I had had more time to spend there.

I really like both of them actually. I mean, I find things at Bass Pro that Cabelas does not carry and vice versa. I live in Nebraksa so I have to say Cabelas has a special spot in my heart...but then again, when I was 11 or 12, I took a vacation to Missouri and spent three whole days in the Springfield Bass Pro Shop...ranks up there as the one of my best vacations ever...

its a toughie :)

Since neither one is that close to me physically, the majority of my experience is based upon website shopping. Although I shop at both, the first place I go to buy tackle online is LandBigFish.com . Their tackle store is always the first to have new items available and many of the items cost less than Bass Pro or Cabela's. A lot of the items they offer are actually shipped direct from the manufacturers and come as quick as Cabela's and definately faster than Bass Pro.

Personally, I have liked Cabela's service over Bass Pro Shops, Although the setup in Bass Pro is second to none.
