WOOT! WOOT! Thank You, Lord! I kept repeating that phrase today. Got half a dozen suckers in the early part of the day at the Barton and Willoughby Rivers. Then I went up to May Pond and slam! 6 nice brookies for dinner! YES!

This male was light - only 1 pound. It was a stocked trout, so I gave it to my neighbors. They were very happy with it. I'm kind of spoiled from eating the wild ones. They taste better to me and, it seems, they weigh more at the same length. The bro…

Wow, Pat, what a beauty, how much did it weigh. I've never caught a trout that big before. Were you fly fishing?

My heart pounded so hard this morning as a very large rainbow hit my line and bent my Ugly Stik right over. It was a crafty fish, though, and is obviously that big for a reason. It got off this time, but I know where it lives and I don't give up easily. Now that I've had a trout sandwich for lunch it's time to get back to my stream...

Hey Patti, I don't get nearly enough time in fishing, my husband and I are busy working on a new business so we are on the road a lot. My sister lives on a lake in Fl. and lets some people who are down on their luck use her lakefront to launch their boat. They have caught several very large bass in the lake and came back with a 14# one last week. She insists that they eat them as they need the food. They live near her and she knows of their needs. I usually catch and release where we live as the ponds are more then likely polluted, the land around here is fertilized with hog waste and waste from poultry farms. The rivers are very muddy and well, I just don't care to eat fish from that environment.

We to are catch and release. I did eat bass one time at a fish fry in SC. Did not know what they were. Actually not fishy which was a surprise. So cool you had GSP'S. I have a lot of fishing friends that have them too. Hope to get on the river later today before the rain comes in.

This will be our second year to visit Champlain. Last year we fished out of Crown Pointe State Park but we are always looking for new spots. We don't do much stream fishing. What is the NEK?

Hey Patti. Thanks for your comment, I love my new boat. Hoping to get lots of time to use it this year. Sounds like you've gone through your checklist pretty well. Wishing you plenty of good fishing as you hit the trout start!
