I'm going out to buy one today! My buddy was throwing a spoon two Saturdays ago and got a nice fish! He was simply reeling it in, but it was in the strike zone where I needed to be. I like your suggestion of simply raising it up or down about 3-4 ...
Here is what you need to do. I am from Texas, so I fish hot about half the year. What you need to fish with is called a slab or jigging spoon. It is a elongated piece of lead or metal that is 1/2 oz or 1 oz. White and chartu. works best, but can u...
Hey Al, I need to come up there to New England and grab those 6 lbers w you!!! I'm heading out to the lake tomorrow and I'll try the 3/4 oz black/blue. Do you use Uncle Josh pork on your jigs at all?

Thanks for the advice! I didn't have the deep divers w me, but I ran a rather large spinner through the strike zone, and nothing! You're right about match the hatch, I also was w/o my Strike King Sexy Chrome Shad, that probably would have got the ...
The superglue or toothpick is a great idea. I found some pix where it shows the Uncle Josh pork simply put onto the hook, w no attempt to slide it up. I'm gonna give that a try Thur afternoon while the moon is under foot. Just trying to get a mons...
If they are holding at 15 ft in 26 ft of water i would try a medium to deep diving crank bait or a swimbait. Colors should lean more towards natural looking baits in the area ... when fish are suspended match the hatch. Lemme know how many you cat...
you can't get the pork far enough back? if so try plastic its softer. if it keeps slipping down and interfering with hook sets try a dap of superglue or use a toothpick to anchor it in place.
Hey guys, I had a lot of success lately with live bait for stripers and big largemouth last week. I was fishing the ponds and nantucket sound on cape cod in west chatham... So, i wrote a couple articles outlining my technique. Be sure to check the...
Hey Chad, thanks, I really appreciate it! I'm gonna get a 1/16 jig and put the hook through the eyes as you said, that sounds like it would work well. I also like the idea of deploying this method when bugs are being eaten...thanks again!!!
Hey Chris, thanks for the advice. Yeah, definitely going for the largemouths. I'll watch the line, that makes perfect sense. I've also already trimmed the weedguard, I read about that in Bassmaster magazine. Hey, one more question, how do you get ...
It all depends on the water temperature and if there is cloud cover or not. If its really hot they will probably go deep or in shade. They should be pretty active so you could use a float or bobber very effectively. If you see a lot of bugs being ...
I'm guessin we are talking largemouth and not smallies here? pay REALLY close attention to your line when fishing jig n pigs. the largies that are sat deep in cover will quite often inhale the jig as its first sinking and then not really take off ...
Hey Joshua,
Thanks again for the advice, unfortunately, we didn't get the bite going. The fish finder showed the fish at 15 feet where the bottom was 26 feet deep. I still used your technique, along w a white jig, but no luck this time. I'm gonna ...
Thanks!!! Yeah, we have done well at the topwater at sundown. We also fish black jitterbugs at night...that's a good time. Thanks for the tip on clear water and fishing white and chartruse. I'm gonna try a white jig today and I'll throw on my whit...
The moon will be directly underfoot at midnight on Wed night...that mean's the lunkers will be out with the best bite of the month!!! If you ever had a chance to catch the trophy, it will be Wed night from 11p to 1a. Black worms, black jitterbugs, black spinner baits!!! Hope everyone gets a chance to get out Wed night!!!
Caught Mr. Nasty in a small pond w/ a small pumpkin green Gary Yamamato crawfish!!! He was in a concrete drainage pipe...that's where Iaconelli says that they'll be and he is right on!!!
Big Pete in Ashdown is wearing the lunkers out with the 1/4 oz black blue jig. Millwood is slam full of swamp donkeys and all they seem to want in that jig. Plastic lizards are also working, but the bb jig is bearing the fruit!!! Come on, new moon, Big Pete is ready to rock!!!
Going big and going deep this weekend looking for the lunker on the new moon weekend. Fishing the late morning, early afternoon time with a black and blue 1/4 oz jig in 20 foot water. Anyone else out there believe in the new moon theory?
