Well, it was a very dissapointing ice fishing season and I've been off to a slow start this spring too. My guy was in school and we had very little time to get out there. When we did, the weather in ol' Saskatchewan was scary cold this year. This spring, I caught my first rainbow but it was really an oversized minnow. Still counts in my book. Of, course, I handled it very carefully and released it. No monsters yet this year, but they're out there....waiting.......and I'm coming after them!

So I went back to the cabin near Meadow Lake at the end of June, hoping to get on the trout pattern. As poor as I am, this time I went prepared. My man (Matt) and I were equipped with a fish finder, flashers, pink lady's, serious dipsies, and a down rigger. We were using Williams Wablers and we were having some decent luck. So last weekend, my man and I went up to my uncle's cabin at Pierce Lake. Its a small lake in Northern Saskatchewan in a provincial park. The weather was great during the day, and we even got a cool thunderstorm one night. Anyway, we got in the old rusty 16 foot boat with the 9 horse power motor, hoping we'd get a hold of something. We've both been hurting to catch our first lake trout and after a dissapointing attempt last year, we were even hungrier for the catch.

I bet most of you already know this, but don't count on getting on a fishing charter in Florida in the off-season!
