A spinner (Colorado Blade) that was half silver/half gold, with a large white grub (about 4-5 inches). He was kinda lethargic, I probably put it right in his face to get the bite- sometimes its better to be lucky than skilled ya know?

Wow, 15-30 lbs? Out here in Colorado, thats' alot. I don't know if your ocean fishing so maybe this doesn't help, but have you tried a lighter line? Most 8 pound braided is as tough as some 15 pound mono lines. By the way, I went through that too, e…

Gore Canyon backpacking and fishing

Shew....I haven't been backpacking in years. We went for 3 days into Gore Canyon outside Kremmling, Colorado, so our packs were a light 50+ pounds. The terrain just killed us though. It went like this- first mile down a jeep road to a 45 degree drop down loose rocky soil onto the 'trail'. Second mile- following goat trail along edge of Colorado River along cliff faces, hanging onto trees to stay on the mountain side 35 feet above class 6 rapids. Third mile- all rocks. BIG ROCKS. Rock hopping for… Continue

Those crazy Colorado Walleyes....

So, if you read the forum, you know I stumbled onto this really hot little spot for walleye here in Colorado. I have never fished a place where they were so easy to catch...but I was having some real difficulties compared to by fishing buddy Dave who was just killin' me every time we went. The first three times we fished there he basically outfished me 3 to 1, and that was on a good day. I was starting to say that maybe walleye were all just insane with no feeding patterns, hangouts, or favorite… Continue

kayaks and very cold water

Year Round Fishing in a Kayak:
One of the fastest growing outdoor sports is kayak fishing. Since my friends from SBD and I have bought our fishing kayaks, we have learned to fish year round.
You won't find the guys in the bass boats out in December usually, but you can find us after (and sometimes before) any snowstorm out fishing. "Thats' crazy", you say? Well, I just have to tell you- the fishing is good. (Something about the barometric pressure and temperature change) In my kayak, I am in my… Continue

How's it going? I see that you're out in Denver. I've been out there once and will probably be going out there much more often in the near future for some business conferences. My girlfriend is out there now and loves it. How's the fishing out there? I'm not much of a fly fisherman (tried it last time I was out there and hated it) so if I do anything in the future, it will NOT be fly fishing.

Hello Scott,

Just wondering, your job seems awesome. I'm a very avid fisherman and fish both BASS and FLW tours. Is there a job like that for me here in Michigan?
